Pattern: Bag
Size to cut: 14" x 21"

Tape 2 poster boards together long ways.
Measure 14" x 21" and Cut.
Measure and draw 1/2" seam allowance on both sides.
Measure every 2" and draw your lines in.
Measure 7 1/2" from the bottom and draw horizontal line.
Draw 1/2" seam allowance on the bottom if desired.

Pattern: Dauber Holder
Size to Cut: 8 1/2" x 41"
Measure 8 1/2" x 41". Cut. Measure 1/2" seam
allowance on both sides. Draw lines every 4"
to show line placement.

Pattern: Bottom of Bag
Size to Cut: 7" Circle

Time to get the protractor out or a bowl to get the 7" circle.

You should have a total of three patterns like these pictured.
Ok, I guess I forgot to take a picture of the brown fabric which is the bag itself.

Don't worry, you'll see what I'm talking about here in a minute. Time to cut the puppy fabric for the dauber holders. This is the long fabric pattern. (for daubers)

To make it simple, align the pattern at the top and make small mark. Next, align at the bottom
and make small mark. (every 4") Then take a ruler and draw lines. Fold over 2 times at the
top and sew to make a nice clean edge. (about 1/2" folds)

Next, make your lines on the bag fabric every 2". Don't forget your seam allowance! Be careful to not mark above the dauber holder fabric.

Here comes the fun part! Now, align the puppy dauber fabric to the lines you made on the brown bag fabric. Sew these in place vertically.  Ok, next I'm going to show you how to close the bottom of the dauber holders.

Here you can see how to fold the fabric. Be careful not to cross over into the other dauber holder.

Keep the fold inside the lines. Sew into place with 1/2" seam allowance.

Here is what the product should look like.

Sew together being careful to align and to not sew the dauber sides together.
I pin mine back for extra precaution.

Ok, now attach the bottom to the bag and sew together.

Now, I used black for the inside liner of my bag. You use the same pattern as the bag and bottom circle without the dauber holder pattern.

Insert the bag liner into the main dauber bag and sew. That makes it look professional on the inside.

Now finish the bag as you would any drawstring bag.
I used two 30" strings and then tie knots at the ends.

Here is the finished product! How Cute!

  5. Don't see why you would need so much fabric. Looks to me like you could make the bag with the round bottom with 1/2 yard of solid and 5/8 yard of print and have enough print fabric to line inside of bag.

  9. The tutorial is wonderful, but I'm not sure how to add the drawstring? I've never made a drawstring bag before, and wasn't sure if I'm to leave part of the seam open or cut openings in the folded over portion. Help!

    2. Cutting two holes for the drawstring , how are you keeping it from ripping and fraying when the bag is opened and shut?

    3. You get a grommet set at the hardware store. The set contains one tube with a sharp end and a dull end. A piece that fits onto the top of the tube. You hammer the tube with the sharp end down to cut through the material. Put your grommet in the hole follow the directions on how to arrange your tools, to set the grommet. It is strong whole now. I use a duck material for my bag. and cotton for my pockets. Outer material and inner lining of the pocket. With a medium weight iron on interfacing. Leaving 1/2 inch gap from the bottom in the interfacing to allow for easier sewing of the bottom of the bag.

  11. First I want to thank you for sharing your pattern. Do you have a pattern for an oblong dauber bingo bag? I use grommets for my draw stapes holes and reinforce the area inside the bag where I have my grommets with extra material. I like duck fabric material for my bags and for my dauber pocket I use a cotton print material with iron on interfacing then lined with a accent color.

  12. This bag is an outstanding pattern! People I make the bag for love it. After making over thirty bag. I have found that lining the pockets with stiff extra firm stabilizer[Pellon]and then lining the pockets with cotton material. The bag stand up better. I also use a cavass material or strong Material for the bag. I also use grommet size 1/2" and reinforce the Material around the grommet in the inside of the bag for pull strap. I also added a loop for a handle. Thank You again for sharing this pattern.

    1. Katherine! Thank you so much! I couldn't agree with you more about using the stronger material! It's been a long time since I created this pattern and I did come to find out that it needed a material stronger than interfacing! Thanks for commenting! I really appreciate it! xo <3

  14. Using a duck material or a twill or some other strong material for the bag. I cut out two square piece of the duck cloth to every grommet and sew the square cloths together followed by sewing them to the inside of the place where I will put my grommet to reinforce. This will help bag not to fray or rip around the grommet. I then fold the bag over at the top to make your channel for your pull closure material. Witch I have put through the holes and laid my material at the top of the channel. Next I sew the channel closed.
